We wanted to inform families that the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) has issued a warning about certain powdered baby formulas produced by Abbott Pharmaceutical. This comes after a number of consumer complaints have been made regarding Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella Newport infections. The issue stems from powdered infant formula produced from one Abbott Nutrition facility located in Sturgis, Michigan.
Officials have said not to use Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas if:
- The first two digits of the code on the packaging are between 22 -37;
- The code on the container contains K8, SH or Z2
- The expiration date is 4/1/2022 or later.
